Natural zeolite (clinoptilolite) are highly complex minerals (aluminosilicates) of volcanic origin possessing very useful properties. As so often in research, there are widely differing opinions regarding the value and use of  zeolite in the healthcare industry. On the other hand, there is widespread agreement among international researchers that the sum of its useful properties and the broad spectrum of therapeutic applications in the human body mean that silicon natural zeolite (clinoptilolite) should be counted among the more important medically and therapeutically relevant naturally-occurring resources.

Numerous studies have shown that the characteristic molecular structure of natural zeolite means it can be used to bind and filter out heavy metals, radioactive nuclides (e.g. caesium-137, iodine-131, strontium-90) and other harmful and waste materials (e.g. sulphate and ammonium ions, methane) in living organisms.

Using zeolite to reduce radioactive contamination, tested in Harrisburg 1979, Chernobyl 1986 and Fukushima 2011

The best-known medical use of zeolite (clinoptilolite) occurred in the aftermath of the tragic reactor failure in Chernobyl in 1986; physicians and the rescue services made widespread use of natural zeolite to successfully detoxify and decontaminate people exposed to the radiation. The knowledge gained from this has been collected and thoroughly documented. There are also records relating to the use of zeolite to filter strontium and caesium out of the human body after the Three Mile Island catastrophe near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1979. Japan, China and Russia are all currently making use of natural zeolite and/or products containing zeolite as they deal with the consequences of the meltdown at Fukushima-Daiichi caused by the Tōhoku earthquake on 11 March 2011. In addition to being used to mitigate radiation-related damage and to decontaminate humans, zeolite is also being used to clean up the environment.

The decisive aspect here is once again zeolite’s (clinoptilolite) ability to exchange ions and absorb radionuclides (isotopes), releasing e.g. calcium ions in their place. The specific crystal structure of zeolite (clinoptilolite), in particular its innumerable cavities and large surface area, means that radionuclides can be trapped and – in living organisms – be evacuated from the body.
 The structure of zeolite allows it to absorb up to 95 % of the commonly found radionuclide caesium-137 and up to 80 % of strontium-90 (filter function). Studies show that by adding zeolite (clinoptilolite) to food, caesium-137 can be removed from the human body three to five times more effectively. The zeolite is not digested or absorbed by the body; instead, the organism excretes the mineral after it has absorbed the toxic radionuclides.

Key aspects of medical research on zeolite

In many countries, the use of natural zeolite (clinoptilolite) is not limited to its indisputable function as a filter, however. Zeolite can in fact achieve much more. There have been studies carried out in Russia, Japan, the Czech Republic and Germany which show that zeolite is capable of releasing up to 80 different trace elements and electrolytes such as silicon, iron, selenium and fluoride. These and other studies have also investigated the oft-reported beneficial effects of zeolite (clinoptilolite) for both human and animal bodies. The main avenues of investigation are:

• The influence zeolite has on the function of the enzymes and hormones in the body
• The effects that the use of zeolites have on the immune system
• The beneficial impacts natural zeolite can have on the exchange of lipids, proteins and carbohydrates

The studies have come to different yet generally positive conclusions, although it must be noted that some are not based on a representative data set. On the other hand, the influence of natural zeolite (clinoptilolite) on the gastrointestinal tract, particularly in its function as an enterosorbent, has been thoroughly researched and adequately substantiated. The main focus of research here has been the stabilizing function that zeolite has on pH values in cases of over-acidification, as these effects play a significant role in the immune system.

Pharmacological properties and applications of natural zeolite (clinoptilolite)

Scientific studies and practical testing of the pharmacological characteristics of natural zeolite have shown that zeolites may be very useful as a medium for delivering therapeutically active ingredients. Zeolite is already widely employed to provide the required technological properties for medical preparations, boosting both their action and their therapeutic effectiveness.

Natural zeolites are also used in many countries as a basis for dressings for wounds that heal poorly, inflammations and burns. Studies state that natural zeolite’s contribution to the dressings’ effectiveness derives from its ability to absorb certain toxins produced in the wound by bacteria and fungi (e.g. mycotoxins) and its ability to stimulate the body’s own self-healing processes.

Coming from waste toxic gases, sulfur dioxide is the major cause of acid rain. In fact, zeolites are the most effective filters yet found for absorbing sulfur dioxide from waste gases and are helping to clean the air of gases coming from energy plants which burn high-sulfur fossil fuel at the Ohio River Valley and other regions, as well as for purifying the air in mines.

For years, zeolites have been used to detox animal waste, and even deodorize litter boxes, and as a water softener to remove calcium. They are also used in hydrogenating vegetable oils. Moreover, recent uses of liquid zeolite to detox heavy metals from the body have been shown to alleviate Candida Albicans, to help alkalize the body and to reduce viruses, bacteria and other pathogens from the system making it an effective immune system booster.

This study investigated effects of administration of two levels of clinoptilolite via colostrum and milk to dairy calves on blood serum antibody levels against Escherichia coli, and on the incidence of diarrhea. Eighty-four clinically healthy Holstein calves were divided into three groups according to body weight (BW), sex and the parity of their dams. Group Z1 (n = 28) was fed clinoptilolite at 1 g/kg BW/d via colostrum initially, and milk afterwards. Group Z2 (n = 28) was fed clinoptilolite at 2 g/kg BW/d via colostrum and milk and Group C (n = 28) was fed colostrum and milk without clinoptilolite supplementation.

The experiment started at the day of parturition and lasted for 10 d. All calves were fed with the same mixture of frozen colostrum for the first 36 h after calving and thereafter with bulk tank milk twice a day. Specific antibody levels against E. coli were determined in blood serum samples of calves at birth, 12, 24 and 48 h after calving. All calves were monitored daily for incidence of diarrhea throughout the experiment. Blood serum antibody levels were higher (P<0.05) in calves that were fed clinoptilolite compared to controls, and those of Z2 were higher (P<0.05) than Z1 throughout the experiment. Administration of clinoptilolite reduced (P<0.05) the incidence of diarrhea.

Supplementation of clinoptilolite at 1 g/kg or 2 g/kg BW/d in the colostrum initially, and milk afterwards, during the first 10 d after calving can be effectively used to enhance intestinal absorption of antibodies against enterotoxigenic strains of E. coli, and to reduce the incidence and duration of diarrhea in calves.

More than a year has passed since Fukushima’s multiple nuclear reactors’ accident on March 11. This nightmare has not only engulfed the world–it has entrapped its inhabitants in webs of poison, lies and deceit. From the very first day, there was a massive cover-up of the extent of the destruction and the inherent radioactive dangers –not just from Japanese officials and TEPCO corporate reports, but also from the US. The Mark 1 reactors, built by General Electric, have design flaws. There are many of these same-designed reactors in the US.

More than a year later, much of the corruption, deceit, and careless practices have been documented extensively–while mainstream news continues Orwellian doublespeak. Last month, in a rare but very belated mainstream account, CBS News reported that after the tsunami and nuclear accident: “The normal lines of [government] authority completely collapsed in Japan.”

Early on, even essential radioactive monitoring was shut down. In May 2011, the prestigious Norsk Institute’s online site was blocked from the US. They had been monitoring on a daily basis the worldwide radioactive contamination to which we were all –and continue to be– exposed. Conveniently, any early radiation monitoring in the US was inconsistent, with numerous sites supposedly not working for one or another reason. Then the so-called “acceptable” radiation levels in food were raised in the US and EU.

As Dr. Helen Caldicott and Dr. Chris Busby have repeatedly reported: “There is no safe level of radionuclide exposure, whether from food, water, or other sources. Period.”

So, what is not monitored, or where the radiation rates are manipulated, then no one –government officials and corporations– can ever be held accountable, nor can increased death rates, diabetes, stillbirths, birth defects ever be attributed to this catastrophic planetary event.

With various half-lives –some eons-long– of numerous radioactive components, the human race and every other living creature on our planet is on its way to extinction, due to the known sterilization effects of radiation. Here is a short list of the half-life of five of the radioactive isotopes that are and will continue to poison all of our children, and us, ad infinitum, in the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the water we drink and in which we bathe:

• Cesium 137: 30 years
• Plutonium 239: 24,000 years
• Strontium 90: 29 years [mimics calcium in the body]
• Uranium 235: 700-million years
• Iodine 131: 8 days [absorbed into the thyroid and gives heavy radiation dose. Also goes into the soil, passed onto us through cow’s milk.]

In a report released just a few week’s ago, the milk tested in the San Francisco area still had radioactive levels of Cesium 134 and Cesium 137. According to even a compromised EPA, these are now at “150 percent of their maximum contaminant level.” Here’s the chart:

These number are very relevant as it was radioactive milk that lead to thousands of cases of thyroid cancer in children after the Chernobyl disaster.

In addition, Fukushima’s Unit 3 reactor also used MOX [mixed oxide], a plutonium-uranium fuel mixture that is deadly. A single milligram of MOX is 2-million times more deadly than enriched uranium.

Current radiation levels reported on Feb. 25 in Tokyo, 100 miles from Fukushima and an international hub, are “25 times the Fukushima mandatory evacuation zone.” The eminent physicist Dr. Paolo Scampa has reported in detail his latest calculations on deadly radiation exposure here (see page 2):

In addition, a collection of 40-years worth of 600,000 spent fuel rods posed an immediate HazMat threat that never went away. The water poured over them evaporated into radioactive steam to go directly into our planet’s atmosphere and the tons of sea water sprayed on the entire nuclear conflagration were criminally dumped into the Pacific Ocean. And because it was not monitored, we will never know how many millions of tons of radioactive water were dumped into the Pacific Ocean.

The entire web of ocean life then was irreversibly contaminated with radioactive nuclear waste and detritus, as the ocean currents carried this nightmare to the west coast shores of North America (California, Oregon, Washington, and Vancouver). As with other major planetary bodies of water, the Pacific Ocean has become an enormous radioactive garbage dump of incalculable proportions that are beyond any remediation currently known to science. This majestic body of water has become one of our planet’s toilets

Even knowing that the ocean food chain is contaminated with radioactivity, this was not reported by mainstream media. So, the fishing industry is catching and selling various fish and crustaceans that are radioactive. How many tons of these have gone up through the entire food chain, and then sold to uninformed consumers who eat these HazMat foods? Profits always trump our safety and well-being.

While hundreds of thousands (perhaps millions?) will develop various radiation-related illnesses (cancers and diabetes, as well as radiation-induced miscarriages, stillbirths and birth deformities) over the next decades, the coffers of the medical profession, pharmaceutical companies, and nuclear industry will be bursting with profits. The 1986 nuclear accident at Chernobyl continues its deathly impact –and that was only one reactor.(2) Fukushima had six reactors.

Medical reports are already showing a significant rise in deaths due to Fukushima’s radioactive fallout. Noted toxicologist and internist Dr. Janet Sherman recently said:” Based on our continuing research, the actual death count here [in the US] may be as high as 18,000…but we continue to find that infants are hardest hit because their tissues are rapidly multiplying, they have undeveloped immune systems, and the doses of radioisotopes are proportionally greater than for adults.”

This massive and frightening crisis is the result of no precaution, no prevention, and no care or concern for human or any other kind of life on our planet.

Everything on our planet has been contaminated with life-long and long-term radiation.

This is not a one-issue health and/or environmental crisis. We MUST think of the bigger picture, across many disciplines. We are in the midst of a long-planned and multi-pronged assault on our health and our planet’s. The destruction of real and long-term good health has been replaced by multiple and chronic diseases (often caused by enormous toxic pollution that envelops all of us).

Our entire biology has been battered for a century. The blood-brain barrier has been breached. Nano-technology and invisible stealth-created micro-organisms –both unregulated– are our modern-day plagues.

Abstract: Effective treatment (such as chelation therapy) of chronic illness resulting from the long-term buildup of heavy metals in the body due to chronic, employment-related exposure presents numerous clinical challenges, including undesirable side effects and unpredictable efficacy. Use of a naturally occurring zeolite, clinoptilolite, to remove these toxic substances may offer an efficacious and safe alternative to the traditional approaches.

This study was designed to evaluate the ability of activated clinoptilolite suspended in water (ACS) to remove heavy metals from the body through urinary excretion. Initial heavy metal levels were established using hair, saliva and urine. The protocol utilized two treatment groups, each consisting of otherwise healthy men with chronic, employment-related exposure to heavy metals. Forty volunteers (Group 1) were given a 90 day supply of ACS, while 10 volunteers (Group 2) were given a 90-day supply of the placebo.

Results: Changes in urinary concentration of the heavy metals were measured by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry and compared to the baseline. Participants in both groups had increased concentrations of heavy metals in the urine with the peak excretion at around day 4. For those on the ACS, the excretion levels went up 9 fold over baseline within a week and stayed that way for the entire time of the study. For the placebo subjects, there was no change from baseline excretion.

Conclusion: This study demonstrates that the daily use of an activated clinoptilolite suspension (ACS) represents a potentially safe and effective way to remove toxic heavy metals from the body through increased urinary excretion.

Abstract: This study was designed to evaluate the ability of activated clinoptilolite suspended in water (ACS) to remove heavy metals from the body without the removal of electrolytes.  The protocol utilized two treatment groups, each consisting of eleven healthy men aged 36 to 70 years. Volunteers were given a commercially available version of the study substance for seven days (Group 1) and 30 days (Group 2) and urine samples were collected at specified time points in the study.

Also, serum samples were obtained from five individuals in each group and serum electrolytes were measured prior to and after taking the product. Participants in both groups had increased concentrations of heavy metals in the urine with the peak excretion at around day 4. No clinically significant alterations in serum electrolyte levels were seen at either seven or 30 days on ACS. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that the daily use of an activated clinoptilolite suspension represents a potentially safe and effective way to remove toxic heavy metals from the body through increased urinary excretion without removing clinically detrimental amounts of vital electrolytes.

Introduction: Individuals who exercise regularly are familiar with the need for post-workout time to recover from the fatigue of effort as well as the pain or discomfort associated with a rigorous workout. During this time of recovery, the body is actively washing out the build-up of waste products from cellular respiration as well as repairing microscopic muscle tears caused by the exertion. The wise athlete knows that “tomorrow’s workout is only as good as today’s recovery,” but time spent recovering is time that is not spent training. Thus, athletes looking for an edge in extremely competitive sports often go without adequate post-workout recovery time (PWOR).
